From a Business Started at Home, to Small Business of the Year
Morton Real Estate was founded in 1974 by Deborah W. Morton as an individual proprietorship operating from a home office in Brunswick. In 1977 she was joined in the business by her eldest son, Paul H. Clark, who became her partner in 1981.
In 1984 they moved the firm to 298 Maine Street to accommodate a growing staff and an increase in business and related real estate ventures. This office was the center of operations until November, 1996, when they relocated to their current location at 240 Maine Street, a property that enjoys high visibility as well as being a perfectly restored example of the work of renowned architect, John Calvin Stevens. With eight residential/land specialists and one commercial real estate broker, they remain a relatively small, independent agency with a reputation for trustworthiness and competency, committed to a high level of service. All of their brokers are full-time and are required to maintain membership in the local, state and national Realtor Associations, as well as to continue their real estate education and Maine State Licensure.
In addition, all brokers have extensive experience in shorefront, residential & land sales, land and condominium development, commercial sales and leasing. Since its inception, Morton Real Estate has consistently been one of the area’s top producers of real estate sales.
Our Own Piece of Real Estate
In 1986 and again in 1999, Morton Real Estate received the Village Improvement Association’s annual “May Basket Award” for the “refurbishing and ornamentation of properties in the Village of Brunswick”, a testament to the pride they take in the business and the community. In 1987 Morton Real Estate was named “Small Business of the Year” by the Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce. This award was given “for business growth and improvement, customer service, community involvement and overall excellence in the marketplace”.
In 1999 the firm celebrated its 25th year in business and was profiled in a December issue of MaineBiz which focused on “Generations of Family Owned Businesses in Maine”. 2007 marked the 33rd year in business for Morton Real Estate.
They look forward to many more years of growth and service to the area’s real estate needs.
