Arrowsic is an island community of 500 residents, situated between the Sasanoa, Black and Kennebec Rivers. It is linked to the mainland at the edge of the Kennebec River in Woolwich. Travelers, coming from the mainland, pass though Arrowsic to reach Georgetown.

With its proximity to Bath and Route 1, Arrowsic is an easy commute to neighboring towns for work or amenities.

The island is home to four iconic lighthouses: Doubling Point, Squirrel Point, & The Range Lights (viewed from the water).

The beauty and solitude of the area is favored by artists and birdwatchers alike. Sewall Pond Conservation Area and Bald Head Preserve are open to the public.


Georgetown, with 1040 residents, is located on an island accessible by car from the mainland in Woolwich at the edge of the Kennebec River. It includes 6 villages: Five Islands, Georgetown, Baypoint, Marrtown, West Georgetown and Robinhood.

Located at the mouth of the Kennebec and Sheepscot Rivers., Georgetown is home to Reid State Park. The park has some of the longest beaches in Maine which include nesting grounds for several endangered bird species. The state park also includes miles of hiking, biking and skiing trails. Additional water’s edge attractions are Robinhood Marina, Five Islands Lobster Co. & docks & Bay Point. Higgins Mountain Preserve & Josephine Newman Bird Sanctuary are popular hiking and nature viewing areas.

There is something for everyone on this island from beaching, boating, and dining at the water’s edge and so much more.
